Achievements

In 2019-20, our focus for much of the year was supporting Victorians impacted by both the summer bushfires and then the coronavirus pandemic.

We administered a range of tax and fee relief measures, including those related to land tax, payroll tax, motor vehicle duty, stamp duty, and liquor licences.

In addition, on behalf of the Australian Government, and via a National Partnership Agreement, we began significant preparations to administer the Australian HomeBuilder Grant.

We collected almost $19 billion in revenue and, in addition to the relief measures administered, allocated $309.6 million in grants, subsidies, rebates, and payments, including unclaimed money.

We also implemented a number of technology changes to make dealing with tax matters much easier, including My Land Tax. This new online portal, launched in September 2019, enables customers to manage their land tax affairs and was quickly enhanced to handle applications for coronavirus land tax relief.

One of our major digital transformation projects, our participation in the multi-agency initiative to achieve full electronic conveyancing, was also delivered in August 2019, with further enhancements completed in 2020.

In other work, we established a service enabling customers to link their myGov account to our State Revenue Office services. They can now authenticate for our services, update their contact details and access their land tax assessments sent digitally to their myGov inbox.
